People love 3D and why not? We see in three dimensions, and filmmakers have sought for decades to create a good 3D experience at the movies; but despite some good (and not so-good efforts), 3D never caught on.
James Cameron finally nailed it with “Avatar,” but it still required glasses. The film’s success spurred an interest in trying to produce television sets that could replicate the experience, but the technology was clunky and unimpressive and poor sales killed that idea too.
But now we might finally have the real thing. If you haven’t seen these before, feast your eyes…
Using a combination of curved LED screens and sophisticated programming that subtly creates two images on the screen that our eyes combine into one, 3D billboards create lifelike, stunning images that catch people’s attention. They first appeared in Japan, but are now spreading around the world.
