One of my favorite actors (before he got fat and lazy IMHO) was Russell Crowe. I’m a Sam Raimi fan so saw Crowe very early in his career here as a reluctant gunslinger in “The Quck and the Dead” and later in that goofy serial killer movie, “Virtuosity” before “LA Confidential” shot him into the A-list.
Since then, Crowe’s career has been all over the map, making some truly solid and unforgetable work, and some real stinkers like his chubby Mr. Hyde in “The Mummy.”
Crowe’s got a new movie coming out, “The Pope’s Exorcist,” based on the real-life experiences of Father Gabriele Amorth, so he’s doing interviews. Now, for some reason, Crowe’s not only doing normal show-type interviews, but also long interviews with some internet sites including (wtf?) “The Critical Drinker.”
I’ve posted before that the Drinker has one of the most Nuke’em till they Glow sites on the net, and I’m sure he’s napalmed Crowe before, but someone must be a fan because they gave him nearly an hour alone with Crowe to talk. The Drinker’s at his home in Scotland, Crowe apparently is in Australia, they’re both relaxed, and the Drinker, instead of asking him about “Exorcist” immediately, asks him about “Cinderella Man” and “Master and Commander” - both films Crowe loves deeply and is happy to talk about at length.
So if you’re a Crowe fan, you’re going to love this interview. Enjoy…
